Stay Happy Keep Smiling

Date/Time: 30 Oct 2018 -05 Nov 2018 8pm - 8pm

By Anna Jordan
Directed by Kate Gaul

'It will remain forever; etched in hideous technicolour on the underside of my eyelids'

What has been seen cannot be unseen. Eyewitnesses to a gruesome murder in broad daylight. Their lives are changed irrevocably, but how?

Rita cannot hold her son. Tony does jigsaw puzzles and counts his wife’s breaths. Elliot must face up to who he is. Farrah is forced to reconnect with a painful past long forgotten. Annie learns to feel again. And Stefan feels nothing.

Stay Happy, Keep Smiling, by Bruntwood Prize-winning young English playwright Anna Jordan, is a heart racing exploration of the impact of trauma and the coping mechanisms we employ. Jordan’s writing is direct and her sharp dramatic scenes build in intensity and revelation.

‘It is exciting to be working with these young artists – this play is written for the energy, courage and imagination of 20-something actors, designers and technicians. The play is short, it’s to the point and leaves you wanting more!’ – Kate Gaul
