Entries now open for triple j Unearthed music video comp
Calling all aspiring musos – here’s the chance to see your music transformed into a video to air on Rage!
triple j Unearthed has teamed up with the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) to give seven lucky bands or musicians the chance to have a professional music video produced by the next generation of creators.
NIDA’s talented directing, production and design students will have just $200 and two days to create a unique music video for their band or artist to be aired on Rage!
NIDA Head of Directing, Egil Kipste says the competition is a great chance for NIDA students to work through the real-world challenges of putting a music video together.
“We have some incredibly creative students here at NIDA and this is a unique opportunity to make their mark in the Australian music industry, backed up by one of the most diverse music platforms, triple j Unearthed.
“We’re really excited to be working with Unearthed again this year. We’ve already seen incredible work produced through this competition which has helped kick-start the careers of some really great artists and directors.”
triple j Unearthed Music Director, Dave Ruby Howe said the ongoing partnership with NIDA was a perfect fit as it joins the best emerging bands and artists with the brightest directors, designers and producers coming through NIDA. “It’s like a forecast of the next wave of Australian artistic talent.
“Having a great music video is a vital tool for engaging new fans but it’s also one that’s often out of reach for artists at the beginning of their careers. Being able to draw on the experience and creative flair of the whip-smart artistic minds at NIDA is an invaluable opportunity.
“In recent years the students at NIDA have created some killer clips for Unearthed alumni such as Allday, Guineafowl, Bloods, Chance Waters and Little Odessa that have captured those artists’ distinct personalities on video. We can’t wait to see what comes next.”
