New appointments to the NIDA Board

NIDA is pleased to announce the appointment of creative producer Noel Staunton as Deputy Chairman of the NIDA Board of Directors, and the appointment of two new directors – producer Ian Collie and financial expert John Robinson – following the annual general meeting in May.

NIDA is pleased to announce the appointment of creative producer Noel Staunton as Deputy Chairman of the NIDA Board of Directors, and the appointment of two new directors – producer Ian Collie and financial expert John Robinson – following the annual general meeting in May.

Chair of the NIDA Board Jennifer Bott welcomed the new Board members, ‘Ian brings both significant legal knowledge, and extensive industry experience as a producer across film and television, while John brings a depth of expertise in finance, commerce, and governance, to the Board.’

Ms Bott continued, ‘We are pleased that Noel Staunton, who has served on the Board since 2015, has been appointed Deputy Chairman. His creative producing and management experience across major Australian and international arts events contributes greatly to the knowledge and experience of the arts on NIDA’s Board.’

Ms Bott also acknowledged the retirement from the Board of Virginia Braden OAM, and Kim Dalton OAM, after six years of valuable service, and Bruce Cutler who has served NIDA for 12 years on the Board. Ms Bott thanked them for their dedication and significant contribution to NIDA, commenting: ‘Virginia Braden OAM has been a Board member since 2010 and her insight into career opportunities for our graduates has been invaluable, as has her extensive networks in the industry. Virginia has also used her understanding and knowledge of design to NIDA’s benefit, especially for the students in our Design for Performance courses.’

‘Kim Dalton OAM, has been a member of our Board of Directors since 2010. In addition, he has served on the NIDA Academic Board, where he will remain as an external member sharing his professional skills and unique perspective with us. Kim has provided important screen expertise with us as well as his background in working effectively with government. We will particularly miss his strategic thinking and collegial approach.’

‘Bruce Cutler served on the Board of Directors from 2003-2009, and then from 2010-2016. During this period, he chaired the NIDA Finance Committee with great distinction, committing his time, energy and scholarship to NIDA. We have benefitted greatly from Bruce’s legal and financial advice and will miss him enormously.’

Jennifer Bott AO was also elected for a second term on the Board as Chair.

Ms Bott concluded, ‘I look forward to working with NIDA’s new and continuing Board members as we look to the future of innovative education and training, aimed at preparing Australia’s emerging and established creative professionals for sustainable careers.’
