About Karina

Karina is a playwright and librarian with a background in linguistics, which inspires her love of words in storytelling. Her work often features unconventional characters, from animals to mythical creatures, or uses elements of fantasy or sci-fi to explore the very human concepts and issues of friendship, manipulation and grief. Karina is inspired to write these stories by the quirky characters she meets working in a public library, and from the magic, wonder and chaos of living in a house with a very unusual pair of dogs.

Karina’s first full-length play, The Lady in Waiting, was first performed in 2022 and subsequently published by Playwrights Publishing Co. Karina has also written a number of short plays for Lane Cove Theatre Company and Newcastle Micro theatre, and had short stories published in the Lane Cove Literary Award anthologies.
