NIDA acknowledges the Traditional Owners and Custodians of the lands on which we learn and tell stories, the Bidjigal, Gadigal, Dharawal and Dharug peoples, and we pay our respects to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders past and present.
Rita is a multidisciplinary designer specialising in costume design for screen, stage and styling. From a young age, Rita was always eager to express her creativity in any way she could with a strong passion for clothing, art and design.
Graduating with Industrial Design (Honours) in 2019 from Western Sydney University; majoring in design-led innovation and management, Rita has always been drawn towards uniqueness and finds excitement in learning what makes something different and special.
While exploring work opportunities in architecture and fashion, she discovered the MFA Design for Performance at NIDA and how it combined the two fields of interest perfectly and became her next venture in pursuing her dreams.
Empathy is a core value in the way Rita works, communicates and engages in her relationships. With the incorporation of her attention to detail, thorough preparation and technical knowledge, Rita designed costumes for A Pox on Both Your Houses during NIDA’s Digital Theatre Festival and for When the Rain Stops Falling during NIDA’s October Season of Student Productions. Rita is a versatile designer who is ready to work across diverse genres and styles.
