Madeleine Hoy

Having grown up in Byron Bay, Madeleine moved to Sydney to study Interior and Spatial Architecture at UTS where she developed her interests in architecture and design. However, it was her travels in India and Europe that inspired her to pursue her love of costume and set design in theatre and film.

Earlier this year, Madeleine designed the set and costume for The Roaring Girl, directed by Andrea Moor. During this time she also designed both set and costumes for The Sugar Syndrome, directed by Jess Arthur at Sydney’s District 01 for The Kings Collective. In 2014 Madeleine’s design credits included production and costume design on the music video Someone by hip-hop artist Coin Banks, for triple j Unearthed and Rage, and set and costume design for Winterreise with director Heather Fairbairn. Madeleine has also worked as costume designer on the hybrid documentary The First Law of Thermodynamics directed by Rowena Potts.

Madeleine is currently realising her set designs for Craig Ilott’s new piece Stranger I Am and hopes to pursue future projects in event, film and theatre design.
