Play the Part at a NIDAnights PechaKucha night

What parts do we present to others, and what do we keep hidden? What are the challenges on the road to leadership, and once the title is earned, how do we play the part?
NIDA Melbourne is co-hosting its first PechaKucha night in partnership with architects Here Studio on Thursday 15 March. The evening is called ‘Play the Part’, and brings together ten Melbourne-based innovators, creators and leaders to present in PechaKucha’s signature 20x20 format. All the speakers will explore the parts they play in making our connected community a better place.
Pecha Kucha is a simple presentation structure: 20 images, 20 seconds each on automatic advance - so the presenter can’t stop. It’s a way of focusing the discussion around visual stimulus. Back in 2003, two European architects Astrid Klein and Mark Dytham kept falling asleep during Powerpoint presentations from other architects. Working in Japan, they created a new format to help everyone to edit themselves, and called it Pecha Kucha, Japanese for “chit chat.”
PechaKucha nights have grown into global network of informal and fun gatherings where creative people get together and share their ideas, works, thoughts in the PechaKucha 20x20 format. Hosted by NIDA tutor and Green Room Award winning lyricist, director, improviser, dramaturg and musical theatre performer Andrew Strano, the ‘Play the Part’ evening promises to be one to remember!
