Interested in studying at NIDA, or curious about what goes on behind the National Institute of Dramatic Arts? NIDA Open Day is the perfect opportunity to visit the campus and get a taste of the NIDA experience.
Whether you want to perform on stage or be behind the scenes, you can learn about all NIDA’s course offerings, meet alumni and current students, observe classroom activities, check out students’ creative work in costume, make-up, design and much more, as well as find answers to your questions, get tips for your application, chat to our expert teaching staff and join the audience for live student productions.
At Open Day, you’ll get a sense of what life at NIDA is really like, and where a future in the dramatic arts can take you.

Missed Open Day or want to watch any of the recorded sessions?
Tips for your best Open Day experience
- Check out the on-campus and online program and plan your day based on your interests in course presentations, panels, demonstrations and shows.
- If you’re keen to see our students in action on stage and behind the scenes, don’t forget to book your free tickets to one of the student productions. Tickets will also be available from the Box Office on the day. If you have already booked to see a NIDA student production, please collect your tickets from the Box Office upon arrival at Open Day.
- All sessions will start on time as per the schedule, please ensure you join on time so that you don’t miss any valuable information.
- Most course information and alumni panel sessions will allow for questions at the end of the presentation. Please note that an answer to your question is not guaranteed due to time constraints. If you’re joining an event online or have questions after Open Day, you can send your questions to us.
- Meet our course specialists in the foyer to find out answers to any of your questions. Online participants will be able to meet with course leaders directly via scheduled online sessions – more information to come.

Dress code
To ensure your safety and guarantee access to the entire building including workshop spaces, please wear closed toe footwear.
Food & Beverage Options
Some food and beverage options will be available for purchase at NIDA on the day at the cafe in the foyer as well as Burgerhead burgers and coffee in the northern end carpark. Bring your water bottle to use at refillable water stations.
Getting to NIDA
The L3 light rail Kingsford Line runs from Circular Quay and Central Station, stopping right outside NIDA on Anzac Parade, as well as numerous bus lines running down Anzac Parade. Plan your trip via Trip Planner.
Parking
Free parking is available at the UNSW car park next to NIDA, entry via Day Ave, plus ample street parking in walking distance in Kensington.
