Monica Scagliarini

In her current role as Head of NIDA Theatres, Monica’s primary task is to make Nida theatre facilities available to the largest community of the Performing Arts, Education & Training and Events Industry. She manages the event management team at NIDA, coordinating internal events and managing the service delivery of all the external performances and events in the theatre venues and other spaces.

Previously Monica held a position of General Manager of the Italian Cultural Centre in Leichhardt, a multipurpose community venue in Sydney Inner West. During her 5 years tenure, she secured a $3.6M Commonwealth grant, project managed the completion of the fit-out of the facility and launched the operations of the cultural centre by programming numerous events with local and international artists.

Following from her Bachelor’s in Political Sciences at the University of Bologna, and a Master in International Marketing, Monica began her career as a Marketing Manager and Project Manager, working across Europe (Bologna, Turin, Milan, Zürich and London), in a wide range of businesses and industries, from publishing and Information Technology, to luxury goods, hospitality and wine trade.

By transitioning from the corporate world to the Performing Arts, Monica fulfilled her childhood dream to transform her great passion for the theatre, developed by working for many years in her town Opera House, into her current profession. She now aspires to develop her skills as a transformation leader, assisting organizations in the performing arts to combine artistic goals, financial imperatives and social impact objectives.
