NIDA acknowledges the Traditional Owners and Custodians of the lands on which we learn and tell stories, the Bidjigal, Gadigal, Dharawal and Dharug peoples, and we pay our respects to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders past and present.

The corrupt Mayor is in a panic. News has reached him of an imminent investigation by a high-ranking government official who is travelling incognito – The Government Inspector!
When a broke opportunist drifts into town and the Mayor mistakes him for the inspector, the hilarious unraveling begins.
Roger Pulver’s bold adaptation of Gogol’s 1836 comic masterpiece was commissioned by Bell Shakespeare in 2006. The 19 characters are condensed into just two for one powerhouse night of comedy.
This outrageous farce about greed, corruption and opportunism is directed by comedy master and performer Darren Gilshenan. The action is fast and furious, with sleight of hand, super quick costume changes, secret exits, sliding cupboards, trapdoors and escape hatches keeping the audience on the edge of their laughter-soaked seats.
