Meiko’s path into the creative industries is an atypical one. Completing a double-degree Bachelor of Science (Psychology) and Commerce (International Business, Hons.) at UNSW in 2010, Meiko had a successful career as a management consultant before deciding to pursue her creative passions.
Concluding her studies with production design for Leoncavallo’s opera Pagliacci as part of the Festival of Emerging Artists, in 2019 Meiko also assumed the role of project manager for EXPONIDA.
In 2019, Meiko took the opportunity to complete four secondments across film (The Drover’s Wife) and television (The Commons, Doctor Doctor – season 4, Between Two Worlds), with roles spanning both costume and art department. She also travelled to Melbourne in 2018 to assist on musical theatre production, The Boy from Oz. Meiko is attracted to film and television for its team-working aspects, diversity of roles and fast-paced, energetic environment.
Meiko is versatile and adaptable, with a hands-on approach to design. Marrying her design knowledge with skills attained in her corporate career in business and financial management, she plans to relocate to the UK in early 2020 where she will be looking for opportunities in the film industry.
