Kayla Burret

Kayla Burret

A love of musical theatre and an interest in the performing arts was instilled in Kayla from an early age. Whilst involved in her high school’s Entertainment course, Kayla developed an enthusiasm for the technical aspects of performance. This passion for the technical arts, particularly lighting, led Kayla to NIDA directly from high school.

During her time at NIDA, Kayla took every opportunity to refine her technical skills in lighting, sound and stage management. Kayla’s passion for electrics led her to secondments with the lighting departments at Sydney Theatre Company and the Sydney Opera House. She has been lucky enough to gain employment with both companies following her time with them.

Kayla would like to thank her family, friends, tutors and industry mentors for all the support and help they have given her. Following NIDA, Kayla aims to achieve a career as a head electrician in musical theatre and looks forward to one day owning a cat.
