Prior to NIDA, Naomi completed a Certificate III in Clothing Production (St George TAFE), leading on to an Advanced Diploma of Fashion Design (St George TAFE), where she designed and produced her own fashion ranges. Simultaneously, Naomi worked extensively in the bridal industry, and undertook work placement at Pleasure State, one of Australia’s largest lingerie companies. Pursuing her interest in lingerie, Naomi travelled to the UK to study at the London College of Fashion. During her trip Naomi was re-inspired and the world of costume offered opportunities to pursue ‘making’ as a career.
Naomi returned to the UK in January 2016 to complete her NIDA secondment, gaining experience with a Savile Row Master Tailor. There she began to learn the art of bespoke tailoring. During 2016 Naomi has received ongoing mentoring in Savile Row tailoring techniques and applied her training to her major research project.
Naomi intends to return to England to work in theatre and film while working alongside her mentor to further advance her cutting, making and tailoring skills.
