Rowan began making props in high school where he recreated a set of sci-fi armour from the video game Halo. After embracing making props and costumes from a variety of media, his hobby quickly snowballed into what he wanted to do as a career.
Rowan furthered his skills while attending NIDA, while at the same time making props for the short films Time Trap and You Are Not Yourself as well as the web series Airlock. He also recreated props from games and film, notably the Phurba Dagger from Uncharted, which is now on display in the office of the Uncharted developers. At the end of his first year, Rowan worked at Opera Australia for several weeks learning a great deal more about fibreglass techniques.
Rowan hopes to take what he has discovered in his time at NIDA and apply it in the film industry when he moves to the UK to pursue his secondment. He is determined to work on the next big Marvel film or latest season of Game of Thrones.
