Born in Sydney, Emily spent much of her childhood involved in the arts. Learning a variety of musical instruments and being heavily involved in school productions, Emily soon learnt that her love for theatre and live performance was more than just a hobby. Following work experience with the producers of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert: The Musical in 2008, and the completion of the Higher School Certificate in 2010 (Honours Roll), Emily travelled throughout Europe with hopes of finding work. In the United Kingdom, she began work for the Jill Freud Company as an assistant stage manager for their 2011 summer season, which cemented her passion for the industry. Upon her return to Australia, Emily decided to further her studies and practical experience by applying for the NIDA Production course.
Emily has greatly enjoyed the challenges presented to her through her time at NIDA and the opportunity to have a greater understanding of the technical elements of theatre. As part of her course requirements this year, Emily completed secondments with a number of leading Australian and English production and theatre companies, including The Royal Opera House, Global Creatures and Bazmark, Salisbury Playhouse, and the Sydney Theatre Company.
