Prior to starting at NIDA, Emma completed an Advanced Diploma of Design for Live Production, Theatre and Events. Between 2009 and 2011 Emma worked as design editor at Currency Press, designed short films for Flywire Films and worked with local theatre company subtlenuance. Emma likes stories.
During 2014, Emma travelled to Tokyo as co-designer of the Tearing the Mask festival. Whilst in Tokyo she met with sound designer Masahiro Sugaya for Stephen Sewell’s play Kandahar Gate, for which she designed the costumes. After co-designing Klutz by Benjamin Schostakowski in 2013, Emma had the opportunity to assist the reincarnation of the play in 2014 when the production was commissioned by Brisbane Festival.
Emma was fortunate enough to gain further insight into design realisation this year on secondment both at Sydney Theatre Company, assisting David Fleischer on Mojo, and in the costume illustration department for Gods of Egypt at Fox Studios.
