Daniela Viola (Associate Lecturer Costume)
Daniela has 10 years’ costuming experience in Australia and the UK.
Daniela’s career started as a day maintenance technician on Wicked the Musical, and continued into a variety of positions such as, dressing technician, wardrobe assistant, head of wardrobe, work room assistant, costume maker and cutter.
Her work on theatre productions includes musical adaptiations of Priscilla Queen Of The Desert, Dr Zhivago, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Strictly Ballroom, as well as Mary Poppins, In the Next Room with Sydney Theatre Company, Spamalot, War Horse, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
She has also worked on operas, including Aida and La Traviata and a production of the ballet Giselle.
Daniela's film work includes Disney's Cinderella (2015), Disney’s Into the Woods (2014), and Jupiter Ascending (2015).
Television work includes Wild Boys (Seven Network), Reign (US, CW Network) and I Will Survive (Network Ten).
Daniela has worked for companies including Sydney Theatre Company, Opera Australia, Paris Opera Ballet, Nigel Shaw Costumes, Anthony Phillips Costume, Bazmark and Jane Law UK.
Previously, Daniela worked in the fashion industry for 5 years as a designer, bridal & eveningwear dressmaker, quality controller and production assistant, for labels like Akira Isogawa, Volcom and Sussan.
Daniela trained in Sydney at KvB Institute of Technology and TAFE NSW.
Qualifications: Diploma in Fashion Design, Certificate IV Textile Design for Print, Diploma in Costume Design for Performance and Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
