Working for NIDA Open
NIDA Open runs a year round programme of educational activities, delivering a cross section of dramatic arts training to children, young people, adults, pre-professionals and established artists. Tutors at NIDA Open are industry professionals who – in collaboration with our course management team – teach classes within their areas of expertise and interest.
Please note: teaching opportunities at NIDA Open are subject to enrolment figures and we are therefore not in the position to offer guaranteed work.
What we're looking for
At NIDA Open, we seek out practitioners who are passionate about their craft and demonstrate a committed approach to teaching. We are currently seeking teaching artists to work across our program for children and young people ages 5-18 years and adult short course programs.
Please include in your expression of interest:
- Cover Letter (indicating subject areas and age ranges you would like to teach)
- CV (indicating any professional or teaching experience) with contact details of two work related referees
- 150-200 word professional biography (please enter this into the ‘selection criteria’)

Only applicants who are shortlisted for interview will be contacted.
We conduct interviews with all potential tutors as programing needs arise.
Interviews for teaching artists will be arranged in response to programing demands. Only successful applicants will be contacted.
We may keep your resume on file for 12 months from the date of application. From time to time casual tutors are appointed on an as-needs basis we may be in contact over the next 12 months if an opportunity arises which matches your skillset.
You must hold a valid Working With Children Check in your state of residence or be able to obtain one, and be willing to support and implement NIDA’s Child Safe Strategies to undertake child related employment.
