Parade Theatre

As the largest of the theatre spaces at NIDA, the Parade Theatre offers seating for audiences of up to 709 people in its three-tiered, horseshoe-shaped auditorium

Technical

The Parade Theatre is suited for fully-staged productions, award ceremonies and presentations. Its full seating capacity is accommodated in a three tiered horseshoe-shaped auditorium for audiences of 300–709 people.

The Parade Theatre’s stage surface is made of 6mm Masonite, with a concrete rear stage and wings. All stage surfaces are painted black. The stage is not raked and its maximum loading is 7.9 Kpa.

ARIA Catering was launched in November 2010 and is owned by restaurateurs Matt Moran and Peter Sullivan.

Marketing

There are a number of ways to promote your event or production.

Promotion through NIDA

Website

All events and productions are listed on our website.

Via email, you’ll need to provide:

  • a brief description of your event, including performance dates and times where applicable
    • approximately 200 words
  • your title treatment
    • at least 300dpi
    • in .jpg format
  • plain images
    • 172 pixels (width) x 117 pixels (height).

All images should be labelled with the name of the event or image name, the year the image/photograph was produced and the name of the photographer or copyright owner. For example:

NIDA e-newsletter

Subject to approval, you can list your event or production in our monthly e-newsletter Box Seat

Box Seat is:

  • made up of regular Parade Theatres customers, corporate clients, sponsors, supporters, local and international industry contacts, general arts lovers and young people interested in the arts
  • at 6500 subscribers and growing.

Signage

Parade Theatres has two external signs on Anzac Parade available for hire.

  • Dimensions – 1.86m wide x 1.06m deep and 2.01m wide x 0.710m high.
  • Printing and installation cost – approximately $560 plus GST.
  • Artwork – supplied by you.
  • Priority for spaces will be given to longer running productions.

Venue publicity

Your material will be displayed in the Nancy Fairfax Foyer, at the Box Office and selected outlets on the University of New South Wales campus (subject to space availability). Flyer seat drops at NIDA and reciprocal venues can be arranged, subject to availability.

You must:

  • supply 10 A3 vertical posters and 500 DL flyers for this purpose
  • gain permission from Parade Theatres management for the handout of flyers and other promotional materials.
Terms and conditions of promotion

Merchandise

All merchandise, including programs, sold at Parade Theatres must be sold through NIDA’s exclusive merchandiser, Playbill.

A percentage of sales (10% on all recordings and 15% on all merchandise other than recordings) will be payable to Parade Theatres.

Programs

A quarter- to half-page space must be available in the program to feature Parade Theatres and NIDA credits.

For archival purposes you’ll need to provide us with two copies of each program and two copies of any production posters or handbills.

Use of Parade Theatre logos

The Parade Theatres logo should be used on all printed or web based material for your event.

Four versions are available for download.

  • Artwork for all printed matter containing the Parade Theatres logo should be emailed to the NIDA Parade Theatres Manager at manager@paradetheatres.com.au for approval prior to printing.
  • All promotional material and advertisements you publish should read similar to: Hirer’s (your) name/presents/name of production/at NIDA Parade Theatres, Kensington OR NIDA Parade Theatres, 215 Anzac Parade, Kensington.

Using our name on marketing materials

Marketing material should not include the acronym ‘NIDA’, the words ‘National Institute of Dramatic Art’ or imply any association with NIDA. Please use ‘NIDA Parade Theatres’ on all collateral.
