NIDA Open Day

Open Day gives you the chance to go behind the scenes to find all the information you need to know about studying at Australia’s leading dramatic arts institute.
The 2012 NIDA Open Day was held on the coldest and wettest weekend in Sydney in 27 years but was still a huge success with over 3,000 visitors coming to NIDA, many travelling from interstate and even overseas just to attend. Visitors were able to gain insight into NIDA through workshops, performances, course talks and presentations. There was the opportunity to engage with staff and students to learn more about the full-time courses including Acting, Design, Production, Properties, Musical Theatre, Costume, Directing and Playwriting, as well as find out more about the wide range of short courses that are offered through NIDA Open.
SOME OF THE HIGHLIGHTS FROM OPEN DAY
> A mini Design exhibition showcasing elaborate theatre costumes and to-scale models of stage sets
> Drop in classes for youth and adults in acting, voice, improvisation and TV presenting
> The latest radio plays by NIDA Playwriting Students
> Lighting displays by NIDA production crews
> Screen acting observation classes in the fully-equipped Reg Grundy film and TV studio
> Screenings of students’ Triple J Unearthed music videos and short film projects
