Karen Scribbins (Lecturer Scenic Art and Art Finishing)
Karen Scribbins has been involved in the scenic world for 25 years since emigrating to Australia in 1996 from England.
Karen started her lifelong career as an accomplished scenic painter working in film locally, interstate and internationally. She has worked on films such as Holy Smoke, The Matrix, Anna and the King, Moulin Rouge, Queen of the Dammed, Ghost Ship and Peter Pan.
Karen branched out into theatre and live performance, employed with companies such as Sydney Theatre Company,Opera Australia and Belvoir working on productions such as Of Mice and Men (Opera Australia), La Boheme (Opera Australia), Noises Off (STC), Children of the Sun (STC) and Cyrano de Bergerac (STC).
Since 2013 Karen has been heavily involved with NIDA productions and mentoring art finishing, utilising her past film and theatre experience. Her exposure to the worlds of live performance and screen have given her unique skills and insight into a variety of scenic techniques
