YOUNG FILMMAKERS STUDIO

This course develops skills in video production including script development, production design, screen direction, filming and editing for 16 to 20 year olds.

Work with leading industry tutors on video projects. You will be encouraged and stimulated and will learn how to collaborate with other artists. Become familiar with industry standards and acquire a variety of skills including directing actors as you work with other talented young people in the studios. The year concludes with a screening of project work in a NIDA venue.

CORE CONTENT

Term 1
Screen language: the visual art of storytelling, production design, music videos

Term 2
Production processes: directing, editing, shooting a short documentary

Term 3
Screen drama: directing actors, script analysis, storyboards, shooting a scene

Term 4
Short film: screen narrative, working with writers, producing a short film

NIDA - 215 Anzac Parade, Kensington, Sydney

DATES

Classes in each term are held on consecutive Sundays during 2009

Term 1 Sun 15 Feb - Sun 5 Apr 2009 (8 weeks)
Term 2 Sun 3 May - Sun 28 Jun  (8 weeks- no class June 7)
Term 3 Sun 2 Aug - Sun 20 Sep (8 weeks)
Term 4 Sun 18 Oct - Sun 13 Dec (9 weeks)

TIMES

Sundays 12.00pm to 5.00pm

FEES

The total cost for 2009 is $2,800 including GST.  Fees are payable over 5 instalments of $560.

Fees must be paid in advance with a commitment to continue the course for the duration of the year. There is no refund of fees once the term commences.

APPLICATIONS

Applications for Young Filmmakers Studio 2009 are now open.

Entry is by interview. Please come ready to discuss a film that you have seen recently.

Application fee is $22 and is non-refundable. All applicants are given an interview. The decision of the interview panel is final.
