YOUNG ACTORS STUDIOOffered at NIDA in Sydney, in Brisbane at QPAC (Southbank) and in Melbourne at the Australian Ballet School.
Young Actors Studio is a pre-vocational Acting Studio at NIDA over 4 terms for ages 16 to 20 year olds. Entry is by audition only.
Rose Byrne is a graduate and ambassador for the Young Actors Studio and she is currently appearing in US series Damages with Glenn Close. Lucinda Shaw, who recently scored the starring role in the Australian production of Spamalot is also a recent Young Actors Studio graduate.
This course develops acting skills for stage and screen, giving access to expert tuition in a variety of acting styles. It offers opportunities to work with other talented young people while acquiring an understanding of professional standards. You will be challenged, encouraged and extended in all areas of performing arts. The focus is practical, with numerous opportunities to present work and a final end-of-year performance in a theatre.
CORE CONTENT
Term 1 Acting: improvisation, voice, movement, devising theatre
Term 2 Screen acting: scenes for film and TV, screen tests and audition monologues
Term 3 Scene work: acting, singing, dancing, character development in scenes from play scripts
Term 4 Theatre production: rehearsals and performance

Classes in each term are held on consecutive Sundays

Term 3 Sun 2 August - Sun 20 Sept 2009 (8 weeks)

Sundays 11.00am to 5.00pm
FEES
The total fees for 2009 are $3,200 including GST. Fees are payable over five instalments of $640.
Fees must be paid in advance with a commitment to continue the course for the duration of the year. There is no refund of fees once the term commences.
APPLICATIONS
Applications for 2009 are now open. Entry is by audition.
For the audition please prepare a one minute piece to perform on your own based on one of the following topics:

Please wear comfortable clothing to the audition. The decision of the audition panel is final.
