Book by Charles Lederer & Luther Davis (Founded on a play by Edward Knoblock)
Music and Lyrics by Robert Wright & George Forrest (From themes of A. Borodin)
By arrangement with Hal Leonard Australia Pty Ltd Exclusive agent for Music Theatre International (NY)

With extreme cleverness and a fair amount of luck, the poor street poet, Hajj, rises from the streets of Ancient Mesopotamia to being crowned as Emir by the bumbling Wazir. Meanwhile, the Wazir with the reluctant help of his perceptive and beautiful wife, Lalume, is desperately trying to find a wealthy foreign princess for the Caliph (The Prince) to marry in order to create an alliance and prop up the dwindling finances of the city. This plan hits a snag when the Caliph falls in love with Hajj's lovely daughter, Marsinah. Hajj throws caution the wind, taking Fate into his hands by unwittingly agreeing to help the Wazir but at the cost of his own daughter's happiness.

After a series of misadventures, all is set right on this Arabian night as the Caliph and Marsinah are finally reunited.

The musical includes fantastic dance sequences as well as the songs 'Not Since Nineveh', 'This Is My Beloved', 'Stranger In Paradise' and the beautiful 'Baubles, Bangles and Beads'.
