WORK EXPERIENCE

APPLICATIONS FOR 2010 - CLOSED

NIDA is pleased to offer work experience to high school students.

The NIDA Work Experience Program provides an opportunity for high school students to observe and, where possible, participate in first year Bachelor of Dramatic Art classes, rehearsals and workshops in either Acting, Design, Properties or Costume.

Placement in the program is highly competitive and applicants are reviewed on the basis of the information provided on the application form, ensuring equal opportunities for male and female students from all types of school systems, and from regional and metropolitan areas.

NOTE: Due to the nature of the work involved, work experience students are generally only able to observe the classes rather than actively participate in practical exercises (especially during rehearsal periods). While every effort is made to ensure that work experience students are only exposed to suitable material, there may be occasions when these students are present for discussions on topics involving emotional issues or coarse language.

Placement in the NIDA Work Experience Program is subject to the following:

  • The NIDA Work Experience Program runs from 22 February to 2 July only.
  • NIDA only accepts participants from formally arranged school programs.
  • Applicants need to be studying at least one subject related to the performing arts.
  • A maximum of two students per school will be accepted.
  • Students will not be offered placement durinig NIDA Holidays (22 March - 16 April 2010).

Each student will be allocated five successive days work experience at NIDA. Please note that due to the high volume of applications, all students should seek alternative arrangements in case their application is not successful.

Classes begin at 9.00am for work experience students and conclude at 4.00pm, with a one hour lunch-break.

Should you have further queries, please contact the Work Experience Coordinator at FULL-TIME COURSE APPLICATIONS using the contact form or call (02) 9697 7610.

2010 Applications are now closed.
