"One of Shakespeare's last romances, The Winter's Tale is full of marvels: the Sea Coast of Bohemia (as mythical as the Forest of Arden), Old father Time presiding over an interval that lasts 16 years, and the immortal stage direction, 'exit pursued by a bear'. A reconcilitation scene is topped by a resurrection scene. King Leontes is the beneficiary of both."
