Through the generosity of Mike Walsh, the Mike Walsh Fellowships have been established to assist young artists who have the potential to make a significant contribution to the Australian arts and entertainment industry.
The Mike Walsh Fellowships are open to practitioners from all NIDA courses who graduated not more than ten years ago.
The Fellowships enable recipients to travel abroad to obtain a wider knowledge of theatre, film or television, such as through a formal course of study or by a self-devised program which, for example, may include private instruction, observation, secondment, meetings with relevant people or an association with an international company.
It is expected successful applicants will return to Australia and take up their careers with new knowledge, improved skills and richer imaginations.
The 2007 Fellowships were awarded to Brendan Moffitt, John Sheedy, Jaime Mears, Troy Armstrong and Jeremy Brennan.
Mike Walsh has generously offered again in 2008 to provide Fellowships to NIDA graduates of the last ten years, from 1998-2007 (inclusive). Applications must be submitted by 8 August 2008 on the application form at the bottom of this page. Late applications may be accepted depending on the date for the meeting of the selection panel.
Applications should be addressed to Mike Walsh Fellowships Officer, NIDA, UNSW, Sydney, NSW 2052.
