NIDA ACTING STUDIO SUMMER (3 WEEKS)

The NIDA Acting Studio is designed for people, 18 years of age and above, with some experience or training, who wish to commit to a comprehensive acting course.  Choose either three or four weeks full-time training, developing your acting skills as part of a highly motivated group, and working with industry experts and the best NIDA tutors.  Emphasis is on learning techniques to perform fearlessly and truthfully for stage and screen.

Sydney in January boasts the Australian summer and the Sydney Festival featuring great theatre, dance and music events throughout the city.  The world-famous Bondi and Coogee beaches are also close at hand for recreation and leisure. 

The NIDA Acting Studio will take place at NIDA in Sydney, using the world class facilities at the NIDA Kensington campus.  Entry to the NIDA Acting Studio is by selection. Please complete the application form, and send it to us along with:
• A one page resume detailing relevant experience and/or training
• A statement as to why you wish to participate in the course

We will select participants based on the quality of their application. The size of groups will be restricted to ensure individual attention.

PERFORMANCE STUDIO

Develop your acting skills working with industry experts, as you work towards a performance.

Develop your foundation skills in voice, movement, acting and the art of improvisation in relation to performance.  Be challenged by rehearsing a short play or a selection of short scenes, resulting in a presentation in a NIDA performance space.

THE MUSIC THEATRE STUDIO

Develop singing, acting and dancing skills, and bring them to a new level of proficiency by working on material from music theatre.  This course is for people with some experience as singers.

Week 1: 12 to 16 January
Develop your skills in singing, acting and dancing.

Week 2:  19 to 23 January
Rehearse individual and group scenes and songs under expert tuition for presentation by the end of the week.

THE TV PRESENTER'S STUDIO

Take command in front of the camera as you inform and entertain audiences as a TV Presenter. 

Week 1: 5 to 9 January
Develop foundation skills in voice, body language and the ability to think on your feet in any interview or presentation situation.  Consider your unique screen presence and how best to present your personality on camera.

Week 2:  12 to 16 January
Practise a range of TV presenting styles, such as lifestyle, news, children's and game show genres.
