CUSTOMISED TRAINING

NIDA is able to create courses and quality educational experiences in theatre, film and television to suit your needs. Customised Training for teachers and students, can take place at NIDA or at your school.

Examples of Customised training for teachers:

• New scheme teacher training
• Communicating in the classroom
• Voice and Vocal care for teachers
• Teaching creative play (pre-school groups)
• Teaching creative arts in the K-6 classroom

Examples of Customised training for students:

• Gosford High School: Making a Short Film
Each term, the year 7 students at Gosford High School are required to write, shoot and edit a short film for assessment. To inspire the students to start thinking like filmmakers, the students joined us for an intensive three-hour workshop, selecting screenwriting, screen acting or cinematography. When they returned to school, groups were formed to ensure a scriptwriter, cinematographer and actor in each group, so that the students shared their new skills.

Teacher Feedback: The course that NIDA specifically created for our school helped to provide our students meaningful workshops linking directly to their course work and assessment task. The students enjoyed all the workshops and had positive feedback on how effective and entertaining the tutors were. As we roamed around each workshop, it was great to see all students focused and engaged in all the activities. A very productive and valuable experience for all. (Ms Bertha Torres)

Student Feedback: It was fantastic. I loved it and I enjoyed learning everything about screen filming. I learnt lots of tips and it was great to be there. (Aleesha Caldwell)

Randwick Girls High School: Costume Design Workshops
As part of the Randwick Girls High School Year 8 Enrichment Day, a NIDA design tutor worked with students to create ball gowns out of pleated paper, inspired by the theme, Mystical Masquerades. As well as immersing themselves in the process of designing and making costumes, students had the opportunity to talk with the tutor about career pathways in the design/textiles industry.

NIDA can arrange a special workshop to suit the needs of your students and your schedule to take place at NIDA or at your school.

Western Australia Schools Performance Project
For over 10 years now, 10 schools from WA have travelled to Sydney in their Easter holidays to immerse themselves in a series of acting, voice, movement and devising workshops. Over a period of one week, students work with a director to develop an original piece of theatre that culminates in a performance in a NIDA venue.

Teacher comment: NIDA offers the students the opportunity of working with tutors who challenge them, who are very supportive of the students exploring and developing their skills in a stimulating environment. The students love the interaction with students from other schools and the variety of the programs offered. (David Ballantyne)

Student Comment: I had the best time. I learnt so much from the tutors. The whole experience was awesome. I can’t wait to go again next year!
