THE SCREEN ACTOR

18 years and over

Specialist NIDA tutors and industry guests introduce students to essential skills for acting to camera and to develop personal screen presence for film, television and other media. Students build vocal, physical and interpretive skills and gain in-depth experience of characterisation, scene work and the actor's filming experience, both in the studio and on location. A limited number of students who complete The Screen Actor are invited to undertake a half year extension course, The Screen Actor Year 2.

Term 1: 12 February to 2 April
Screen acting skills: voice, movement, characterisation, scenework

Term 2: 7 May to 25 June
Australian scene work for film and television

Term 3: 23 July to 10 September
International scene work for film and television and action on camera

Term 4: 15 October to 10 December
Working with a director, auditions and screen tests

Time

Saturdays, 11.00am – 5.00pm

Fees

Courses fee: $3,975 (1st instalment $1,275 and 3 instalments of $900) 
Audition fee: $22

Auditions

Entry to this course is by audition. Applicants are required to learn and prepare one short piece for the auditions. All audition information – including the audition pieces - will be sent with confirmation of the audition. Applicants are required for the whole audition time and auditions will involve some group activity. Please wear comfortable clothes.
