MASTER CLASSESProfessional Masterclasses
NIDA Open Program is pleased to offer a selection of one and two day classes to develop and refresh the skills of NIDA students, tutors and industry professionals. The classes will be run by international experts Barbara Houseman and Kate Woods and are being offered as a part of NIDA’s 50th celebrations.

Barbara Houseman
Barbara Houseman is a London based Voice expert who has worked with actors as a voice and acting coach for the last thirty years. She has worked on many shows in London’s West End and helped clients prepare for film and television roles.
Barbara spent six years in the world-renowned voice department at the RSC, working with leading international actors and directors. She is the author of two highly acclaimed books Finding your Voice (foreword by Kenneth Branagh) and Tackling Text (Foreword by Daniel Radcliffe).
Barbara’s areas of speciality include working with experienced actors who wish to extend their already well-developed skills; preparing film actors to work on stage and stage actors to work on film and assisting actors in dealing with issues of confidence and nerves.
Kate Woods
Kate is an award-winning film and TV director who has previously taught with NIDA and it’s Screen Actor course through the Open Program.
For the last 2 years, Kate has been based in LA, directing episodes of prime-time American TV series including: Without A Trace, Law & Order SVU, Bones and Private Practice, the new spin off from Grey’s Anatomy.
In Australia, Kate’s recent directing work includes episodes of All Saints, and the TV feature Black Jack: Ghosts.
Kate was awarded the AFI for best Director for her feature Looking for Alibrandi. Her next feature One More River, starring Jessica Lang, is in preproduction, and will be shot in the USA later this year. |
