DEBATING AND PUBLIC SPEAKING

Through sessions in voice, body language, improvisation and storytelling discover methods of teaching young people in the art of public speaking and debating as well as developing strong communication skills to use in the classroom.

DIRECTING AND STAGE MANAGING A PRODUCTION

Develop the skills to direct and stage manage a school production. The directing session includes working with text, design, pre-production and working with actors. The stage management session covers roles and responsibilities including how to prompt, extraction lists, marking up, rehearsal room etiquette and  production week.

DRAMA IN THE ESL CLASSROOM

Explore drama methods to teach ESL students. Improvisation and storytelling techniques will be taught as a basis for language learning. Encourage creativity and language learning as you develop practical drama skills to use in the classroom.

DRAMA TEACHING FOUNDATIONS

Explore the foundations of Teaching Drama through practical sessions in voice, movement improvisation and acting. The workshop will cover the practical elements of a drama class from the warm up to the end of the lesson.

HSC DRAMA: TEACHING THE INDIVIDUAL PROJECT

Consider the directorial concept and the creative process involved in mentoring a project. The sessions will cover the practical steps involved in creating a script, video drama and Individual performance project for HSC Drama.

PHYSICAL THEATRE: CLOWNING, CIRCUS AND MIME

Explore physical theatre skills through the comic forms of circus skills, mime and clowning. Through movement, characterization, stillness, gesture and physical action create physical sequences and skits to work with drama students in the classroom.

SHORT FILM WORKSHOP

Create a short film (Video drama) in a 2 day intensive workshop. Day 1 involves taking an idea into script, visualizing the script through storyboarding and shot lists and practical skills in camera operation and lighting. Day 2 involves developing editing skills through editing the footage on iMovie or final cut pro.

TEACHING HSC DESIGN

Develop a design concept for a play, which is then realised by rendering a costume design, creating a model box or designing a poster and program to mentor HSC students.

TEACHING PHYSICAL THEATRE AND THE GROUP PERFORMANCE

This workshop will focus on physical theatre styles such as Lecoq, viewpoints and contact improvisation.

Explore devising methods for the group performance through physical theatre exercise and improvisation to develop exciting and innovative devised work with drama students.

Suitable for secondary drama teachers. 

TEACHING THE GROUP PERFORMANCE

Explore the creative process involved in mentoring students through the HSC Drama group performance. Sessions focus on voice, developing and sustaining a character, physical theatre, and creating a narrative and strong theatrical piece.

TEACHING VOICE

This workshop will cover the essential elements of Voice for teachers; breath control, pitch, pace and volume as well as vocal care. Through role play explore difficult situation using the vocal skills leant to communicate effectively.

THE ART OF STORYTELLING

Develop skills in storytelling to stimulate your students and engage them in written stories and stories of their own imagining. Develop skills in how to tell and present stories through sessions in devising, writing and creating a short video drama.
