ABOUT PRODUCTIONLike to make things happen? It starts with you. Become a production professional with a three-year full-time degree course at the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA). The course comprehensively covers both the technical and creative aspects of production. You’ll study the disciplines of stage management, event management, lighting design, stage mechanics, sound design and production management. Learn contemporary production practice and how to work backstage safely and efficiently. Get a grasp of lighting, sound, computer aided drafting, stage scenery and mechanics, score reading, rigging, staging and multimedia. Then put it all into practice crewing for NIDA productions and events. Acting as stage manager for at least one production, you’ll learn first hand how to synergise the many elements that must come together in a successful production. Once you’ve mastered the technical skills, industry placements will expose you to more practical experience – and potential employers in theatre, film, television or events. EXPLORE PRODUCTIONThe NIDA Production course allows students the opportunity to experience a professional working environment through observation and practice, staging NIDA events and productions and gaining experience through industry secondments.
