Dear <~~First~~>,
Welcome to miCroPhone.
In this edition we are introducing two new seminars that are coming to NIDA in 2008.
Don't Entertain A Bully is
a three hour seminar on bullying, diversity, and tolerance, combining a
theatrical presentation of Alex Buzo's Norm and Ahmed with a
facilitated workshop.
Be Prepared To Perform is
a two hour interactive seminar, which focusses on the importance of
forming good habits in our everyday communication, so we may be more
effective communicators in the workplace. We look forward to sharing these special events with you here at NIDA.
Regards,
The Corporate Performance Team |

DON'T ENTERTAIN A BULLY
An original concept in corporate learning and development.
NIDA Corporate Performance in conjunction with the Alex Buzo Company will present a new program that looks at the complex, and sometimes distasteful, problems of bullying and prejudice.
Bullying
is not black and white and is frequently disguised with a smiling
facade. An unjust use of power, the silent treatment, the constant
undermining of someone's self esteem and the exploitation of phobia all
amount to bullying.
Prejudice is not always perceived.
Sometimes the prevailing view is a prejudiced one and therefore seen
as normal. In a society where we still say 'there is a black man
running for President of the US' or 'a woman is the new Governor
General of Australia' prejudice is alive and well.
Bullying
and prejudice are not limited by sex, age, position or cultural
origins in either the giver or the receiver. Subtle manipulation,
exclusion by intent and overt comments can rob people of their
self-esteem.
In the NIDA Corporate Performance tradition we
are combining theatre and facilitation in a new program. A performance
of Alex Buzo's classic Australian play Norm and Ahmed precedes a
workshop which unflinchingly searches for the truth, perception and
fact in the multifaceted areas of prejudice and bullying. This
powerful play is funny and awful as it deals with the flawed characters'
preconceived notion of each other.
The issues that are addressed
in this workshop are pertinent in the contemporary work environment.
It will aim to encourage participants' self-awareness and increase
understanding of truth and perception.

BE PREPARED TO PERFORM
The
best communicators are always prepared. They are consistent, relevant,
concise, and above all, they allow their personality to shine through
at all times. In order to be an astute
presenter, good communication skills must become routine. It is
otherwise unrealistic to expect to be physically, vocally and mentally
equipped for every high stakes communication.
Most
people baulk at the thought of performing before a live audience, yet
performing, at some level is just what we are doing in every
communication context. Form good habits, so performing doesn't take
you by surprise.
NIDA
Corporate Performance offers this two hour experiential seminar which
explores the combining of authenticity, with vocal and physical
accuracy, to turn any performance into an exhilarating experience. Be
Prepared To Perform and perform beyond your expectations.
