NIDA Open Program tutor Bridie Carter who is teach NIDA Acting Techniques in Byron Bay this summer.
1. Most memorable NIDA experience?
It was all memorable. Having just completed Dancing With The Stars (DWTS) I had pearls of wisdom from the wonderful Keith Bain floating through my mind. He always talked to me about the "nearlys" - the wonderful moments of not quite, moments of anticipation between thought and gesture. He also spoke of mastering one's props - they are our greatest enemy and our biggest asset.
2. If your life were a theatre act what would it be called?
A Collage of Experience and Gratitude.
3. What's the drama in your life?
On the stage or in front of the camera - Thank God!!!!
4. Favourite spot for pre-theatre dinner?
Golden Century in Haymarket
5. Most treasured theatrical moment?
At NIDA, my favourite performance was The Art Of Success in third year, directed by the inspiring Tony Knight. And most recently I would have to say my freestyle dance on DWTS in the final.
6. What prompts you to act?
An inner knowledge that it is the most natural thing in the world for me to do. The desire to act and fulfilment follow closely behind.
7. Ever been upstaged?
Many times. It has taught me to be a better, cleverer and more instinctive actor.
8. Advice for all budding thespians?
It’s about staying power. Never give up the dream and be open-minded.
