Dear <~~First~~>,
We hope you can take some time this month to look at some ‘Window Dressing’ of a different kind. The Nancy Fairfax Foyer at NIDA will play host to Window Dressing, an exhibition featuring painting, drawing and mixed media work by NIDA first and second year students from the Production Crafts (Properties) course. Open 24 August to 30 August, 9am to 6pm.
And while you are here, make sure you catch Bodyline 07, opening 31 August, for four shows only. The three choreographers took a break from rehearsals to give this month’s podcast interview about working with the First Year Actors on their fresh movement works.
As a reminder, applications for NIDA’s full-time degree courses close 30 September, and NIDA Open Program is also accepting applications for its year-long Singer Dancer Actor course. But if singing, dancing or acting aren’t up your arts alley, there is a vast range of short courses commencing in September from Arts Management and Directing, through to Event Management and Design.
Also, save the date - don’t miss out on Samoa’s answer to the Marx Brothers! The team behind the SBS cult hit bro’ Town, The Naked Samoans, present Naked Samoans Go Home, a ‘high-energy hoot from beginning to end’, at NIDA’s Parade Theatre. Limited season from November 5. Click here to book now.
Hope you find something to see or do at NIDA this month. |

Sammy! A word that broke an empire. Written by award-winning playwright Partap Sharma, Sammy! is the incredible iourney of Mahatma Gandhi. Sammy! brings alive a man whose influence changed politics forever. Powerful theatre, it is especially relevant because of the times we live in, where the Mahatma’s creed of non materialism and non violence is sorely needed in an age of terrorism and consumerism. 2 September | Parade Theatre | 5.30pm | Tix $35 to $75. | |
