LIBRARY catalogues

NIDA Library Catalogue and related library catalogues.

    NIDA: www.library.nida.edu.au

Check the Membership & Visitor Access links on the NIDA library website to ascertain borrowing privileges (non-NIDA personnel are not eligible to borrow or become members of the library).  Current NIDA library patrons have access to EBook library (EBL) that is linked, although remains separate, to the NIDA library catalogue.  Click here for the user guide (current NIDA library patrons only).

UNSW: www.library.unsw.edu.au

Borrowing privileges are available for full-time students and staff of NIDA.  COFA library holdings are searchable within the UNSW catalogue.

TROVE: www.trove.nla.gov.au

Trove will list the Australian libraries’ holdings of a book you are querying.

Trove, delivered by the National Library of Australia, is a new discovery experience focused on Australia and Australians. It supplements what search engines provide.  This tool is recommended if you are researching in the fields of the social sciences, literature, local or family history, or need inspiration for your assignment.

For example if researching images relating to Edmund Barton, our first Prime Minister, results will include descriptions such as people, book, manuscript, map and newspaper articles. A researcher searching for information on Nellie Melba will be presented with a range of results including biographies, pictures, music, newspapers, books etc.

Local Council, State & Tertiary institution Libraries:

Contact your local library for information on becoming a member.  Some local libraries may allow you to join even if you live outside of council boundaries.  The State Library of NSW / Mitchell Library is a reference-only library.  Woollahra specialises in playscripts.

UNSW Bookshop: www.bookshop.unsw.edu.au

For purchases, we recommend the University Bookshop at UNSW.  All books are automatically discounted by 10%.  The bookshop specialises in texts relating to UNSW and NIDA courses, including theatre and film-related texts, also stocking general fiction and latest releases.
