SPACE PROGRAM

Nikola Amanovic directs One for the Road and Press Conference (Double Bill) by Harold Pinter

This study of political torture is set in an unknown location where a dissident family of three is interrogated. It is the director’s strong conviction that capitalism is the very essence of most wars today and that on our behalf thousands of people get tortured.

Kat Henry directs Medea Material by Heiner Müller, trans. Carl Weber**

Murder and eroticism drip through a pre-apocalyptic urban wasteland of haute couture, hedonism and corruption in this re-imagined classic tale of a woman’s love, loss and revenge, combining heightened physicality and deep psychological interrogation with beautiful, live, hybrid classical / industrial / electro music.

**Please note: Audience will move from the Parade Space to the Reg Grundy Studio for Medea Material, the second of the three plays in the Space Program. The audience will be standing for the duration of the play (approximately 35 minutes). No seating is available in the Reg Grundy Studio.

Netta Yaschin directs Through the Leaves by Franz Xaver Kroetz trans. Anthony Vivis

Martha is a successful businesswoman, running her own tripe butcher’s shop. Otto is her man-friend, a packer in a factory who uses Martha for sex. Rolfi is a German Shepherd. The portrait of Otto is an unrelenting one: “Just take your knickers off”.

STUDIO PROGRAM

Paige Rattray directs Motel by Angela Betzien

A child has been found by a protection officer. A young cop wants to go back to his mate’s wedding party but something strange is happening to his pregnant wife. This play is an exploration of intense, violent relationships of desperate people trying to find answers.

Karla Conway directs Product by Mark Ravenhill

Olivia is a hot young starlet. All she needs is the script which will save her from B movie hell: a script which balances artistic integrity with blockbuster bucks. James thinks he’s got the perfect pitch if he can only persuade her he’s got the perfect Product.

Kip Williams directs Not I by Samuel Beckett

“Perhaps something she had to…had to…tell…could that be it…something she had to… tell…” Not I, Samuel Beckett’s one sentence monologue, is the fractured retelling of one woman’s story.
