HOW TO APPLY

Applications for courses commencing in 2009 opened on 1 July 2008 and close on 30 September 2008.

Applications must be submitted in a NIDA application form direct to NIDA. You can apply online or download an application form as a PDF.

If you are thinking of studying at NIDA, firstly you need to decide what kind of talent you have and the type of career you wish to pursue. What do you want to be? An actor, designer, director, stage manager, craftsperson or technician? You must then decide which of the NIDA courses is best suited to your needs. We recommend that you find out everything about the various courses that you are interested in and then lodge your application.

All applicants are auditioned or interviewed so that NIDA's staff can assess abilities and potential to benefit from the course.  See below on how to prepare for your audition or interview.  The auditions and interviews are intended to help applicants to show their abilities to best advantage.  Applicants must attend the audition/interview in person.  For courses other than the Acting course interviews via webcam are sometimes possible.

Auditions and Interviews are held in most Australian capital cities during October/November/December. In 2008 auditions for the Acting course will also take place in Cairns. After your application has been received, you will be sent your audition/interview time.

Provided the application is in order, you will be advised of the specific date and place of your audition/interview within three weeks of the application being received.  The dates for auditions and interviews across Australia will be available by 1 July 2008.

If misleading information is included on the application form, auditions, interviews and enrolment may be cancelled.
