A Bequest is a gift in one’s will that is left to a specific beneficiary. Having these arrangements in place ensures your wishes are respected.
Bequests to NIDA go to the NIDA Foundation Trust’s Endowment Fund, which is a permanently held capital fund established to support the long-term vision and viability of NIDA. The Endowment Fund then bestows annual grants for important activities and projects.
Your solicitor or financial adviser can tell you how to prepare a new will that incorporates your wishes, or you may add a codicil to an existing will to include NIDA.
Bequests can be made in a number of ways, including:
-
A specific asset (shares, property, jewellery, art, etc);
-
A specified sum of money;
-
A portion or percentage of an estate;
-
A life insurance policy.
Bequests can be made towards specific projects, or left unencumbered. Unencumbered bequests are used by NIDA as deemed appropriate by the NIDA Foundation Trust Directors.
NIDA can provide suggested wording for your will upon request, and can work with you to find a NIDA project or activity that subscribes to your wishes.
