NIDA presents Bodyline 06
Let the bodies do the talking… This is the principal behind Bodyline 06: three dynamic and emotional physical theatre pieces featuring NIDA's first year actors.
An annual NIDA production, Bodyline 06 is designed to give NIDA's Acting 1 students an experience in devising and performing a non-text based piece, providing them with the unique opportunity of developing an original, physically based piece with the director.
"Bodyline 06 is very much a collaborative work," says Julia Cotton, Head of Movement Studies at NIDA and also director and choreographer of one of the Bodyline 06 pieces. "The first year actors are involved in the creative process, facilitating and shaping the work with the directors, as are the second year design and second and third year production students. The culminating product is not a dance work, but a visual and emotional exploration of the power of physical theatre."
Julia is joined by directors and choreographers Joshua Consandine, formerly a dancer with the Australian Ballet and Sydney Dance Company and currently studying at NIDA for a Graduate Diploma (Movement Studies), and Anca Frankenhaeuser, a graduate of NIDA's Master of Dramatic Art (Movement Studies), and currently a Movement Tutor at NIDA.
