ABOUT ACTING
Take the spark inside you and fan it into a flame. With a rigorous three-year full-time acting course at the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA), you’ll master the magic and discipline of acting, forging your own unique approach to become a compelling performer in theatre, film and television. And you’ll earn a Bachelor of Dramatic Art from Australia’s elite drama school, the degree that launched the careers of successful actors and arts and entertainment leaders, such as Cate Blanchett, Sam Worthington and Hugo Weaving.
With a hand-picked group of classmates, you’ll study proven acting methods plus voice, movement and music. The Music Theatre stream aims to produce actors who can sing and dance. Grounded in the craft of acting, this stream will put you in a class of your own, helping you to become a more versatile performer who can use the power of song and dance to make stories resonate.
Actors, directors and producers from Australia and around the world will work with and mentor you as you come to grips with your craft. You’ll have plenty of opportunity to get comfortable in front of creative decision makers and learn how to impress with your skills inauditions and screen tests.
