Why Support NIDA
For more than 50 years, NIDA has been dedicated to realising the talents of Australia’s most promising artists. Many have gone on to become household names, and many more have dedicated their craft and artistry to enriching the cultural experiences of Australian communities and the wider creative industries.
Their ability to achieve has been due to their determination and drive and the opportunity to take part in NIDA’s ‘conservatoire’ approach to training and education. The experience is immersive, and the challenges set increase with every year of study to reflect the highest industry standards.
The intensive teaching and guidance they receive is essential to providing graduates with the skills to make a deep contribution to arts and industry as quickly as possible. They also have to be ready for the tough challenges of making the transition to a sustainable working career.
We want our emerging artists to be ready to meet the ever-increasing challenges of being ‘career ready’ and continuing to make a significant contribution to the cultural landscape upon graduation.
That’s why this year we are seeking your support for the NIDA On Screen project. This project is designed to provide students with exposure to emerging digital and online technology, which is becoming an essential part of the film and television industries. It’s also an important opportunity for Australian artists and practitioners to make an impact in a global industry.
Our NIDA On Screen project will provide students with access to equipment and the opportunity to develop the necessary skills.

How you can help in 2012 - NIDA on Screen and NIDA New Artists
Your contribution to NIDA’s annual appeal will help us make these projects happen. To enable us to achieve ourambitions to secure NIDA’s future, we aim to raise $150,000 this year.
NIDA on Screen
NIDA needs your help to buy essential equipment, required to shoot on location giving NIDA students the opportunity to learn professional skills in acting for camera.

They are all NIDA graduates and established their international reputations in stage, film and television. Training in film and television is integral to study at NIDA. NIDA shoots Showreel on location under the guidance of some of the industry’s most experienced and respected practitioners, including leading cinematographers and directors of photography who give generously of their own time to help with this vital project. To achieve a professional finish to Showreel, NIDA works with Australia’s leading post-production specialists. NIDA Showreel is edited, graded and mixed to industry standard to present our talented acting students at their best before delivery to the stage and screen industry both in Australia and around the globe. However, access to these external technologies brings additional costs. By giving to NIDA on Screen, your generosity supports NIDA graduates as they embark on their professional careers.
NIDA New Artists
You can also make a gift to NIDA which will help us ensure that every student has the resources and opportunities to reach their full potential. A donation to NIDA’s New Artists will help us purchase course materials, consumables and will assist us in providing support to NIDA students with living expenses while they study.

From paint kits for Design to hot air guns for Properties, padded coat-hangers for Costume to a full-student bursary, a gift from as little as $100 can make a major difference to NIDA.
